THE 2011 BEACH ROAD BONDI BLUE WATER CHALLENGE

The Event

There will be two swims, of 2.1km and 1km respectively, over the courses illustrated below.

The Courses

The 2.1km swim is a triangular course starting on the shore in front of Bondi SBLSC , proceeding to a turning buoy off Mackenzie’s Point, then across the entrance of the Bay to a second turning buoy off Ben Buckler and back into the finish.

The 1km swim begins on the shore in front of Bondi SBLSC, proceeds straight out to two turning buoys in the middle of the Bay, and returns via a similar route to shore.

Wave Start

Swimsuits

Note that no ‘hi-tech’ swimsuits, wetsuits, or other flotation devices can be used (for details see Race Rules).  However due to the change in date (from April 17th to May 22nd), subject to weather conditions AND water temperature this rule maybe adjusted to allow wetsuits. An announcement will be made on the day at the race briefings. Please no correspondence on this matter.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in all categories in both events. In the 1km swim, a prize will be given to ‘Mr and Ms Average Time’ in each category where there are more than 8 entrants in the category. In the 2.1km swim, those electing to enter as elite swimmers will be swimming for a prize in that category. They will not be eligible to win an additional prize in their age group category.

Spot prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
